“Life, what an exquisite privilege.” ~ Katie Rubinstein ~
It is early. The sun is still trying to climb over the mountain and wake up this small valley. Some of the hills are shining brightly. Some remain in shadow.
Meadowlarks are singing morning psalms — giving thanks and praise as they greet the new dawn. Now and then, I hear a goldfinch. The morning air is crisp with the new day. A herd of Pronghorns is nestled in the fold of one of the hills.
“Prayer is sitting [walking] in silence until it silences us, choosing gratitude until we are grateful.” ~ Richard Rohr ~
A busy day of household chores awaits me. But I take this first hour to savor this new morning in this peaceful place and offer gratitude for all the blessings and privileges that fill my life.
And should things get difficult today, may I remember to look deeper. For the lessons, for the beauty, for the good.
“The question is not what you look at, but what you see.” ~ Henry David Thoreau ~
